Ukraine deepens relations in peaceful use of nuclear energy with the CIS states

Ukraine deepens interstate relations in the area of peaceful use of nuclear energy with the CIS member countries. A respective draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the approval of the Agreement on coordination of interstate relations of the states participants of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the area of peaceful use of nuclear energy” was endorsed at the Government’s session on December 25, 2013.

The mentioned draft document was elaborated by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine targeting coming in effect the Agreement on coordination of the interstate relations of CIS member countries in the area of peaceful use of nuclear power signed on May 31, 2013 in Minsk.

Approval of the document shall afford to ensure implementation of coordinated measures directed to sustainable development of nuclear power and effective support and monitoring of realization of the concluded agreements, bilateral and multilateral projects, scientific and industrial programs and technological solutions in the area of peaceful use of nuclear power in the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Besides, during the Government’s session there was approved a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On approving of the Protocol on making changes to the Agreement on main cooperation principles in the area of peaceful use of nuclear power of June 26, 1992”.

Approval of the draft document shall afford to raise effectiveness of organizational and information support of activity of the CIS member states in the area of peaceful use of nuclear power, to secure overall safety, infrastructure development and realization of innovation projects, training of highly qualified personnel for the mentioned branch.
