The event is coordinated by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine supported by experts from the Agency for the Reduction of the Threat of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Within three days, members of the command-staff excersise will train three modules of the scenario for responding to a possible radiation accident at ZNPP. The purpose of the training is to simplify the analysis of a radiological emergency during which involved ministries and departments of Ukraine will play key roles and fulfil their duties taking measures for responding to a radiological event of national level.

Excersise results will show the level of preparedness and ability of central and local executive authorities to eliminate consequences of an accident at NPP, as well as their interaction. In addition, one of the main tasks of such events is to increase preparedness level, improve skills of state body heads in taking immediate decision under eliminating consequences of possible national-level accident at NPP and to study and specify current plans, rules and procedures for coordination of prompt response measures.
