Disconnection of Romanian Cernavoda-2 from Grid
According to the report of the Romanian Regulatory Authority National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN), on 29 March 2018, Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 was disconnected from the grid under safe nuclear and radiation conditions and in accordance with the technical and system procedures of the Cernavoda NPP.
The unscheduled disconnection from the grid of the power unit was conducted under the supervision of CNCAN experts in accordance with their regulatory supervisory procedures to monitor process parameters of the nuclear installation and to confirm the absence of any radiological impact on operational personnel, the environment and the public, and the absence of any radiological or nuclear event.
As of 30 March 2018, personnel of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 perform the necessary actions to remove the causes that led to the unscheduled disconnection, as well as to safely restore its operation.
CNCAN confirms that radiation background of the environment does not exceed the established limits.
