The Operational Personnel of Ukrainian NPPs Work in Maximum Isolation During Quarantine

To minimize the spread of coronavirus, the state enterprise NAEK Energoatom transferred the most critical NPP employees to a special work schedule.

“Due to the difficult epidemiological situation caused by the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus by contact, the most critical personnel necessary for the stable operation of facilities of strategic importance to the economy and security of the state “, the press service of Energoatom reported.

For critical groups of NPP operational personnel for the quarantine period, an isolated passage to workplaces without contact with other employees has been arranged. They were placed to live in separate rooms of hotel complexes of nuclear power plants’ satellite cities, from where they are transported  to power plants by separate routes.

All of these workers work in personal protective equipment under constant medical monitoring of their health in the workplace and in isolation. Employees not involved in technological processes were transferred to remote mode.

All meetings in the structural subdivisions of NAEK Energoatom were transferred to the mode of selector, web and Skype conferences, and all business trips were canceled.

“All these measures should protect critical personnel for the operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants from coronavirus,” the company explained.

In addition, according to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 40 entry and exit from the cities of Energodar, Netishyn, Varash and Yuzhnoukrainsk, where the NPPs are located, is limited for the time of quarantine.
