On February 9, an online meeting of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate considered the readiness of Unit № 2 of the Khmelnitsky NPP for commissioning after scheduled preventive repairs after core refuelling.
Representatives of NNEGC Energoatom, specialists of its Khmelnytska NPP Separate Division, experts of the State Scientific and Technical Centre for Nuclear and Radiation Safety and state inspectors chaired by the Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety Grygoriy Plachkov took part in the discussion.
Basing on the report by Energoatom representatives, the meeting participants came to the conclusion that the planned measures of the Comprehensive (consolidated) programme for the increase of the level of nuclear power units safety were implemented in physical volumes; works on modernization of equipment of systems important for safety are executed in full, and post-repair tests are completed.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the SNRIU decided to issue a separate written permission for the launch of the Unit 2 of the Khmelnytska NPP. According to Volodymyr Kudrytsky, Chairman of the Board of PJSC NEC Ukrenergo, connection to the grid of the 2nd KhNPP Unit is expected on February 15.
