RNPP received written permission from the SNRIU to launch Unit 2 after planned maintenance

On February 24, 2021, at a meeting of the SNRIU, representatives of the Rivne NPP reported on the readiness of the RNPP Unit 1 for commissioning after scheduled preventive maintenance with reactor core refueling.

The meeting was chaired by Grygoriy Plachkov, Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety of Ukraine, with the participation of representatives of NNEGC Energoatom, RNPP specialists, SSTC NRS and state inspectors of the SNRIU.

They heard information from the Rivne NPP, the Department for Safety of Nuclear Installations and the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate at the Rivne NPP on the SNRCU on:

– implementation, in physical extent, of the planned measures of the Comprehensive (Consolidated) Programme to Increase the Level of Safety of Nuclear Power Units, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №1270, December 7, 2011;

– performance of works on modernization of the equipment of systems important for safety, in the planned extent;

– completion of maintenance and testing works.

After considering the information, the decision on issuance of a separate written permission to launch a nuclear installation unit number 1 of the Rivne Nuclear Power Plant after the preventive maintenance of core refueling.

To recall, on February 9, the Head of the SNRIU approved the issuance of a separate written permission for the launch of the Khmelnytska NPP’s Unit 2.
