Cabinet of Ministers Established Commission for Interaction of Authorities in Case of Nuclear Sabotage

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has formed a body for interaction of authorities in the event of sabotage at nuclear facilities, radiation sources, as well as during radioactive waste management.

The decision was made at a meeting on September 8.

Full name of the formed structure is the Commission for Action Coordination of Participants of the State Interaction Plan for Central and Local Executive Authorities in Case of Sabotage with regard to Nuclear Facilities, Materials, Radioactive Waste and Other Radiation Sources during Their Use, Storage or Transport, as well as during Radioactive Waste Management”.

According to the Government’s ordinance, the commission will be headed by Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Strategic Industries Oleh Uruskyi.

The body also included the Deputy Ministers of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Internal Affairs, Energy, Defense, Chief State Medical Doctor, Chairmen of SNRIU and State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, First Deputies of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and State Tax Service of Ukraine, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the National Guard of Ukraine, Head of the Patrol Police.

If agreed, the members of the commission will also be: Head of the Main Directorate of Counterintelligence Protection of National Economic Security Interests of the Security Service of Ukraine, Vice President of the National Academy of Sciences and President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.
