Forest Gifts Remain Most Radioactively Contaminated
According to the Zhytomyr Regional Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, 27% of mushrooms collected in the Korosten region contain radioactive contamination.
This conclusion was made in the laboratory after the quality analysis of food products in the settlements affected due to the Chornobyl accident, for the period from January to September 2021.
During 9 months, employees of structural subdivisions of the Regional Laboratory Center checked 784 food samples for radiocaesium-137 content. The permissible levels of radiocaesium were exceeded in 23 samples, which is 2.9%. The most contaminated are mushrooms, berries and milk.
