30 Years for Safety: Two SSTC NRS Monographs Already on Sale

Two monographs of the State Scientific and Technical Center for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (SSTC NRS) dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the enterprise establishment have been published recently. Presentation of publications was scheduled for 18 March 2022, on the SSTC NRS anniversary day. However, due to the full-scale invasion of russia into the territory of Ukraine, the publication of the monographs was postponed.

The series “30 Years for Safety” includes monographs of SSTC NRS researchers. The monographs “Seismic Safety Assessment for Power Units” and “Safety Aspects of Instrumentation and Control Systems of Ukrainian NPPs” are already on sale.

The monograph “Seismic Safety Assessment for Power Units” relates to the peculiarities of consideration of the earthquake effects on NPP power units. The contemporary regulatory requirements for design and seismic safety assessment of power units developed by SSTC NRS experts considering international practice, including the Fukushima-1 accident in Japan in 2011, are described in detail. In addition, approaches and methods used for assessment of seismic resistance of structures, systems and elements of the power units of Ukrainian NPPs are described in publication.

The monograph “Safety Aspects of Instrumentation and Control Systems of Ukrainian NPPs” highlights trends in the development of NPP information and control systems (NPP I&C), considering the succession of NPP I&C generations and current challenges that arise from the development of computer technologies. In addition, issues related to the improvement of the regulatory framework on NPP I&C nuclear and radiation safety and establishment of the regulatory framework for cyber security are considered.

The monographs can be purchased on the SSTC NRS official website in Section “Publications” or in the web-store on the Company’s Facebook page.
