Poll in Solomiansky District of Kyiv. “Is There Danger of North Korea, Russia and USA Nuclear Buildup?”

Uatom.org editorial board conducted a poll in the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute in Solomiansky District of Kyiv to check public awareness of nuclear and radiation safety issues. We express sincere gratitude for all who agreed to answer our questions.

Oleksii, 40 years, chemical engineer

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

I do not have any negative attitude towards stalkers. After all, the youth does not do anything terrible in their desire to see the Chornobyl exclusion zone. On the other hand, I disregard the so-called black metal seekers, those intruding into the Chornobyl zone to steal metal for further selling.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

Yes, I think there is a danger. Russia plays a very important role in this regard. Various nuclear tests and experiments have been very popular there in the days of Lavrentiy Beria.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

It find it extremely interesting to be a stalker, because you can see those places that are closed from society. I would be pleased to visit the Chornobyl exclusion zone to see the ghost city Prypiat. However, I do not like the opportunity of dying young, so I would rather not take any radioactive souvenirs from the exclusion zone.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

It seems to me that the current situation will likely lead to a nuclear war.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

I think stalkers are desperate people. They are suicides to some extent. I think that the youth must be aware of the consequences of their actions. I have a son and I really want him to have healthy children. Therefore, I do not approve illegal visits of the Chornobyl exclusion zone.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

I think this is a kind of confrontation between two systems, which lasts for several centuries in a row. The confrontation has come to a new level today. I do not know whether this will lead to the third nuclear war. The power brokers will decide.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

Frankly speaking, I have rather a neutral attitude to stalkers. It is not a secret that in recent time you can pay for a legal tour to the Chornobyl exclusion zone. In addition, it is much safer than coming there alone. If we speak about the theft of various materials from the zone, it is undoubtedly necessary to increase the protection level of this territory.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

I believe that current conflicts in the world are not so significant to use nuclear weapons. The opportunities of these countries are huge, but I doubt there will be an occasion to use them.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

I do not approve of illegal intrusion into the Chornobyl exclusion zone. After all, there are such guys who intrude into this territory, look for abandoned buildings, cut metal and then sell it in other regions. This can only lead to negative consequences. After metal remelting, it can spread all over Ukraine. Therefore, undoubtedly, the level of Chornobyl exclusion zone protection shall be increased.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

I believe that there will be no nuclear war in the near future. All the statements of politicians are only loud words to intimidate each other.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

If stalkers intrude into the exclusion zone to make a dozen of great photos, then I think there is nothing terrible about this. If they take things from the Chornobyl zone, this is what is wrong. Such a behavior can endanger other people. I would like to go to the Chornobyl exclusion zone, but in an official tour with a guide. I would love to see Prypiat, abandoned buildings and to feel the atmosphere of the past.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

What do I think of stalkers? I think people have nothing to do and are looking for adventure. However, there are more serious problems in our country.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

I am not afraid of a nuclear war. I think the leaders of North Korea, Russia and the United States will negotiate with each other. What do we see now? Only lip service of politicians.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

I think stalkers are very curious people. They are interested in restricted access areas. Their objective is to look for something new. If the numismatist have a lot of coins, the stalker has a collection of closed access territories. On the other hand, it is very difficult to call behavior of stalkers very smart. They can face unfortunate consequences after penetrating into the radioactively contaminated areas.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

I think they are arming before a war, which is quite possible.

1. What do you think of stalkers? Are they innocent seekers of adventure or a constant threat to public safety?

I consider stalkers to be people, who have no responsibility neither to themselves, nor to society, nor to future generations. There is no reliable information on the state of the Chornobyl exclusion zone. Stalkers at their own discretion intrude into the zone, where they can be irradiated and they come back with radioactive contamination endangering not only themselves, but also other people.

2. In your opinion, is there a danger of continuous buildup of nuclear capabilities in North Korea, Russia and the United States?

I think this is another political game, which under some circumstances can lead to severe consequences. Therefore, I have a very negative attitude towards this.
